Oh My Gosh I HATE FINALS!!!

Okay, so first I just have to apologize for my delay in writing ANYTHING!!! As many of you know it is the last week of classes, and that means FINALS.... uuuuggghhhh.... and on top of that our very own Debbie has been in Italy living the high life while I have been here running the business... So anyway, I promise I will get back into the swing of things soon enough, just wanted to write a quick note to let you know I hadn't fallen off the face of the earth :)

Being Different

Its funny that every client that comes in to meet with me wants their wedding to be different. Every time I ask them how they want it to be differnt their initial response is they want it to be fun and not boring. Then I go to ask them if they will be spending their reception standing in a line. Some say yes and some say no. So here is the way to make your wedding different then almost everyone else. Lose the line and mingle with your guest.

Here is the rub. Stop inviting 500 people to your wedding. I know thats hard to do because your dont want to make people feel bad, but honestly most of those people dont really even know who you are. Seriously, think about it. You are inviting people to your event, the most important day of your life, that you dont even know! You are standing in a line meeting people when you should be having fun and celebrating this wonderful occasion.

I know this may be hard to understand, but imagine how much more fun your wedding would be if you celebrated it with the people closest to you!

This is just food for thought. Remember its your wedding and you can do it however you would like, but remember to enjoy it.

Bridal Sessions?

What are bridal sessions? I have so many clients that are from out of state that have no clue what a bridal session is. I always laugh and tell them its a Utah thing. However its starting to grow in popularity throughout the country.

A few tips on a B-session.

1. Be sure to have flowers. Flowers are important to give depth and color to your photos. They also give your hands something to do.

2. Be yourself. Don't try to do something that you know you won't like. Your personality should come out in your photos. If you are a traditional bride then go some place that has flowers and trees. If you like more of a fashion look then, well hire me and I can make that happen. :) I can do traditional as well just in case you were wondering.

3. Don't worry about getting your dress dirty because its going to be dirty the second you put it on. I say make the cleaner work for their money. Also, bringing a blanket or plastic sheet will do little to no good for keeping your dress clean. As soon as you lay it down the photographer is going to push it under your dress so you can't see it.

4. And the last thing about bridal sessions is.....well if you want to know give me a call and we can talk about it.

Here are a few shots from a recent bridal session that I think are totally hot! Have fun and be creative!

Bridal Shower Ideas

Bridal showers are a fun part of the wedding process! Usually the shower is thrown by the maid of honor and/or the bride and groom's families. So when they ask you what theme you want, here are a few ideas that I got from The Knot...

"Recipe Mania"
In the invitation include a card asking each guest to bring a recipe - include a type of cuisine (Mexican, Chinese, etc) if you want to mix it up a bit.

"Picnic"
Use cute red and white checkered invitations, napkins, etc. For food go with a picnic themed food of cold sandwiches, chips, and assorted fruits.

"Mad Hatter Tea Party"
Find fun, colorful invitations and use bright tablecloths. If you have a fun crowd use mismatched chairs with different heights (regular kitchen chairs, barstools). Make cupcakes with bright colored frosting, sugar cookies, and little sandwiches.
